8 homes damaged in Manassas fire

Three homes were destroyed and five others damaged in a Thursday fire in Prince William County. The fire broke out Thursday afternoon on Tillett Loop in the Sumner Lake subdivision. Eleven residents were displaced by the blaze, and two people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

Arrest made in student slaying

D.C. police arrested a 17-year-old in the slaying of Catholic University student Neil Godleski. On the early morning of Aug. 22, Godleski, 31, was bicycling home from work near Sherman Circle in Petworth when he was shot several times. Police said the motive was robbery. The teen, Eric Foreman, is charged as an adult with felony murder while armed.

Police say they’ve nabbed knifeman

An Ashburn man has been accused of committing six robberies at knifepoint in Fairfax and Loudoun counties. The robberies occurred over nearly three months at four hair salons, a fast-food restaurant and a convenience store. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office says Sean A. Mabry, 29, brandished a knife and took cash from the register in all of the incidents.
