Men killed in Southeast D.C. shooting

A 42-year-old Maryland man was gunned down early Saturday in Southeast D.C., according to police.

Frederick Darnell Ard of Suitland was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 1:11 a.m. on the 2000 block of 16th Street SE near Good Hope Road. He died at a hospital. No arrests had been made.

Police search for suspect in attempted rape

Montgomery County police are asking for help finding a man who tried to rape a woman after she got off a bus in Aspen Hill on Saturday evening.

The man followed her toward her apartment near Bel Pre Road and Grand Pre Road around 7:30 p.m., then assaulted the woman and forced her into the nearby woods, police said. She fought off the man and was treated for minor injuries. Police said the attacker was described as a black man wearing a red North Face jacket. His is in his 20s and between 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall. Police ask anyone with information on the case to call police at 301-279-8000.

D.C. police seize weapons, drugs from NW home

District police have seized a machine gun, shotgun, stun gun and drugs from a residence in Northwest D.C.

The district’s third patrol unit executed a search warrant for a house on the 1800 block of Vermont Avenue NW. Roy Rosa, 35, was charged with the intent to distribute drugs while armed.

Several rounds of ammunition and an undisclosed amount of money were also seized.

Man charged with two Md. robberies

A Rockville man has been arrested and charged with two armed robberies that occurred Friday afternoon, police said.

A Safeway pharmacy in Bethesda was robbed at about 3:25 p.m., and an M&T Bank in Rockville was robbed about 90 minutes later. Brendon Fuller Friedman, 41, was charged with two counts of armed robbery and was being held on $20,000 bail.
