The public will get a chance to view some of the evidence presented at the trial of a University of Virginia lacrosse player convicted of killing his former girlfriend.
George Huguely V was found guilty of second-degree murder in February for the May 2010 beating death of Yeardly Love.
Two presentations are scheduled for the public to see evidence in the case. The presentations are scheduled for May 15 and May 16, Charlottesville Circuit Court Clerk Llezelle Dugger told the Charlottesville Daily Progress.
The public will see some evidence, including a 64-minute tape of Huguely being questioned by police. Sensitive evidence, such as autopsy photos, will not be shown, according to the Daily Progress.
During Huguely’s trial, only jurors and the judge could see videos and photographs.
Love’s mother filed a civil suit against Huguely last month, contending that he maliciously killed her and his negligence led to her death.
Huguely, of Chevy Chase, is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 30. A jury recommended a penalty of 26 years in prison; the judge can accept that sentence or lower it.
