Masked men make off
with diamonds
A diamond salesman was robbed of several hundred thousand dollars in diamonds in a Virginia parking lot.
McLean police say the man was getting out of his car in the parking lot of the Sheraton Hotel at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, when a sedan pulled up next to him. Three men were in the car. One got out, showed the salesman a gun and ordered him to lie on the ground.

The thieves, who were wearing ski masks or bandannas, found the diamonds and fled.
Former Pakistani bank president held without bail
A former Pakistani bank president accused of stealing $10 million from his bank before fleeing to the United States was held without bail Thursday as his attorney prepared to fight his extradition to Pakistan.
Hamesh Khan fled to the United States in spring 2008 to after threats were made on his life, his attorney said in Alexandria’s federal court. Khan was arrested at his office in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Dec. 9, just hours after Pakistani authorities detained six Washington-area residents they claim were trying to meet with terrorists.
