A robbery suspect who rammed into an officer’s cruiser during a chase, then fled on foot, has been apprehended, Prince George’s County police said. Police said officers responded to a report of a purse snatching on the 9000 block of Baltimore Avenue in College Park at about 5 p.m. on December 12. They linked that incident to two other area robberies.
When officers found the suspect, identified as John A. Kelly, on the 8100 block of Baltimore Avenue, a vehicle chase ensued. Kelly, 47, struck a police cruiser before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot.
Kelly was arrested by Riverdale Park police patrol officers on Dec. 17, police said late last week. He has been charged with robbery, and police said additional charges are pending.
