Shot D.C. firefighter drivers himself to hospital

An off-duty District firefighter was shot early Thursday morning and drove himself to the hospital.

Police said the firefighter was shot at about 12:30 a.m. He drove himself to the Washington Hospital Center and was in critical condition, according to a fire department spokesman.

The firefighter is a six-year veteran of the department who had been on unpaid leave since March, according to fire officials, who didn’t say why he was on leave.

The man’s name was not released.

Guilty plea in NSA bribe case

A National Security Agency official has pleaded guilty to taking bribes over waste-removal contracts for the agency.

Robert B. Adcock, 44, of Parkville, Md., pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to obtain payments for actions he took as an NSA official and making false statements to conceal the payments from the agency.

According to court records, the owner and former president of a Baltimore recycling company paid Adcock to make sure that metal from the NSA was delivered to their company. But payments for the metal were secretly diverted to Adcock, who raked in more than $110,000 in the scheme.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in April.

D.C. man gets 10 years for bank robbery in Maryland

A Washington man has been sentenced to 10 years and four months in prison for a December 2009 bank robbery.

Prosecutors said 29-year-old Emerson Frazier robbed a Bank of America in Jessup at gunpoint on Dec. 9, 2009.

He threatened employees and customers and repeatedly demanded money, and took more than $42,000 in the robbery, according to court records.
