H.S. coach arrested for allegedly ‘sexting’ student

A former Catholic high school teacher has been arrested for exchanging pornographic photos with an underage female student, authorities said. Anne Arundel County police received a complaint from the Archdiocese of Baltimore in July that 40-year-old Brian Funk, a former girls’ track coach at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, had taken a student to a movie and that there might be a possible relationship between Funk and the girl. Funk was named the school’s coach of the year for the 2010-11 academic year. Police said they determined that Funk and the juvenile had exchanged sexually explicit images using their cell phones. Funk was charged with one count of possession of child pornography and one count of displaying an obscene item to a minor.
