Prince George’s County police say authorities have identified the driver in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured a pedestrian in Chillum.
An off-duty Prince George’s officer saw the 49-year-old Lanham man in the street on Ager Road near East-West Highway at about 11:15 p.m. Saturday. It wasn’t known how long the man, whose name was not released, had been there, said Cpl. Rodney Gause, a police spokesman.
The driver who struck the man fled the scene, police said. Police said the driver returned to the crash site on Sunday and contacted authorities.
The driver’s name was not released because he has not been formally charged, but police said charges are expected in the crash.
The pedestrian is hospitalized in critical condition, Gause said.
