Prosecutors plan to announce more charges Monday against serial stabbing suspect Elias Abuelazam.
The former Leesburg resident is suspected in a series of stabbing attacks this summer that killed five people and wounded 13.
Three of the attacks were reported in Leesburg. Fourteen, including the five fatal assaults, occurred around Flint, Mich.; one was reported in Toledo, Ohio.
Michigan prosecutors have scheduled a news conference Monday to announce new charges. Thus far, Abuelazam has only been charged with one Michigan assault.
No charges have been filed in Virginia. The Loudoun County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office said it isn’t clear when Abuelazam will be charged in the county.
Loudoun officials have said they believe the attacks were racially motivated.
