Teen charged with making pipe bomb

A 19-year-old was charged with manufacturing an explosive device after fire officials found the components of a pipe bomb in her room, Prince William County police said.

At about 3:15 p.m. Sunday, police responded to the 15100 block of Stepping Stone Drive in Haymarket after the homeowner reported to have found fireworks and other materials that could be used to build a bomb. The materials were in the bedroom of a family member.

A joint investigation was conducted involving Prince William County police, fire marshals and Virginia State police, and a search warrant was executed at the residence and a vehicle.

Erika Nikole Gregory, 19, was charged with possession of explosive material and possession of illegal fireworks.
