Police investigate armored car robbery

The Arlington County Police Department’s Robbery Unit is investigating an armored car robbery that occurred in the 1500 block of S. Bell Street.

At approximately 1 p.m. Friday, an unknown suspect approached an armored truck guard, sprayed an unknown substance at the guard, and stole a money bag from his hands. The suspect then fled in a waiting vehicle that a second suspect was driving.

The first suspect is described as an African American male, 5-foot-8 with a thin build. The suspect was also wearing a dark colored baseball cap, a green shirt, and dark pants. There is no description of the second suspect.

Three teenagers robbed

Three teenagers were robbed in the area of Glenbrook Road and Prince William Drive, Fairfax County Police said.

The victims, ages 14, 14, and 15, were approached by three other teenage boys, one of whom displayed a handgun and grabbed a backpack from one of the victims, police said. He and another suspect then rummaged through the backpack and the victims’ pockets, then fled.

The victims were not injured, police said.

GMU police investigate alleged sexual assault

George Mason University police are investigating an alleged sexual assault case.

A victim reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance a dormitory room, and the investigation is ongoing. There were no further updates, said Major George Ginovsky, a police spokesman.

Fairfax DWI patrols/sobriety checkpoint net arrests

Fairfax County police made four arrests for DWI and issued more than 50 traffic citations over the weekend as part of a sobriety checkpoint and DWI patrols.

Officers stopped about 82 motorists which conducting DWI patrols throughout the McLean district on Friday. About 450 motorists passed through the sobriety checkpoint on Columbia Pike at the intersection of Madison Lane on Saturday. –Compiled by David Sherfinski
