UPDATED, 4:31 p.m.: Fairfax County police have identified the two as John Jackson, a former county police sergeant, and Alexis Jackson.
The two live in Falls Church and were at the home of a relative on Forest Grove Drive, said Officer Shelley Broderick, a police spokeswoman. She said Jackson resigned in June 2010 and had served for 16 years.
A medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death for both John and Alexis Jackson. Broderick said it would be “overstepping” to say which death was a homicide and which was a suicide before receiving the medical examiner’s report.
Fairfax County police are investigating what they say appears to be a murder-suicide involving a former Fairfax County police officer and his teenage daughter.
Police got a call regarding a shooting about 1:15 a.m. today. When officers arrived at a home in the 3800 block of Forest Grove Drive in Annandale, they found an SUV parked in the driveway that contained two bodies with gunshot wounds, Fairfax County police spokeswoman Mary Ann Jennings said.
Jennings said a 40-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter were found dead.
Police believe the incident was domestic in nature and that there is no threat to others in the area.
