Three men who attempted to break into a boat anchored in Jones Creek, leading to a fatal stabbing, were trying to “scare” a 21-year-old aboard inside the cabin, police said Tuesday.
Albert Driscoll III, 39 — who was stabbed to death by the 21-year-old man — and two other men went on the boat in an attempt to “scare him up,” Baltimore County police spokesman Mike Hill said.
Hill added that he did not know whether the men intended to physically harm the 21-year-old, inflict damage to the boat or cause some other form of trouble. He said the Sunday attack was definitely “targeted.”
The 27-foot-long sailboat was anchored about 200 feet from shore near the 7300 block of Geise Avenue when a 21-year-old male, who was on board with his 18-year-old girlfriend, heard someone breaking into the cabin around 1 a.m. and fatally stabbed Driscoll.
On Tuesday, Hill said officers had arrested a second man in the incident and were looking for a third. He withheld the name of the man arrested, but said he had seen a court commissioner.
The Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the stabbing to see if any charges should be filed against the 21-year-old, police said.
Hill said the men involved all knew each other.
