A Vermont man is accused of sexually abusing a young girl he baby-sat when he was a teacher at a private school in Prince George’s County.
Montgomery County police said 44-year-old Fernando A. Asturizaga sexually abused the girl, who was one of his students, while baby-sitting at her Silver Spring home and at a location in Bethesda between 1999 and 2001.
Police said the girl was 10 when the abuse began.
Police would not name the school where Asturizaga taught. The abuse was only recently reported to authorities, Montgomery County police spokeswoman Angela Cruz said.
Asturizaga was charged with second-degree rape, second-degree sex offense and child abuse by a lawful guardian. He was being held Thursday on $100,000 bond.
