MADISON, Va. (AP) — Authorities seized about 1,200 doses of heroin and arrested five people at a home in Madison County.
The Blue Ridge Narcotics and Gang Task Force says in a news release that the heroin has an estimated street value of up to $60,000. Officers from the task force and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office seized the drugs Tuesday after officers responded to a suspicious person call and noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the house in the Burnt Tree community.
Four local residents and a New Jersey woman were arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin. They were being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail awaiting court appearances.
