Car shot at on I-66

Virginia State Police said someone shot at a car traveling on Interstate 66 in the Manassas area on New Year’s Day. The incident happened shortly after midnight. The driver of a 2006 Audi reported hearing a loud noise while traveling east between the Route 234 Bypass and the Groveton Road Overpass. The driver later found a bullet hole on the passenger-side rear door. Police recovered two bullets from the vehicle. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call police at 703-791-3101.

Man goes berserk in ambulance

A man who became violent in an ambulance in the District, forcing medics to flee, was taken into police custody. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services spokesman Pete Piringer said the ambulance responded to an address on Q Street in Northwest Washington shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. Piringer said the patient was believed to be suffering from an overdose of PCP. After the patient became violent, Piringer said, the crew got out of the ambulance and radioed for police. Nobody was hurt. Damages to the ambulance were unknown.

New Year’s knifeman on run, police say

Authorities are looking for a man accused of stabbing his ex-girlfriend on New Year’s Day. Prince William County police said 37-year-old David Marcellis Frye forced his way into his ex-girlfriend’s home in Manassas and stabbed her. She was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is being charged with aggravated malicious wounding, burglary and intent to commit assault with a deadly weapon.

Six pulled from burning building

Prince George’s County firefighters rescued six people from a burning apartment building on the 3400 block of Dodge Park Road in Landover early Monday. Heavy smoke and heat prevented residents on the third floor from going down the stairwells. Some residents hunkered down in a safe place while firefighters beat the fire down, a spokesman said.
