Seven arrested in Annapolis prostitution operation

Seven people were arrested in connection with an Annapolis police operation targeting people soliciting prostitutes, authorities said.

After receiving citizen complaints, Annapolis police conducted the operation Thursday in the area of the 200 block of West Street. During the sting, two female police officers pretended to be prostitutes, police spokeswoman Detective Amy Miguez said.

Luis M. Chimborazo, 45; Sameer Raj Guru, 33; Domitelio Lara Ramos, 34; Dionisio Reyes Villa, 27; Walter Antonio Rodriguez, 36; and John G. Savvas, 38, were charged with prostitution by any means and assignation by any means, police said. Savvas was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

A seventh person was arrested and later released after being taken to a hospital for an unrelated medical condition, police said. Authorities have issued a criminal summons for him.
