Crime History: Texas tycoon charged

On this day, Aug. 2, 1976, 12-year-old Andrea Wilborn and her mom’s boyfriend Stan Farr were murdered in their $6 million mansion in Fort Worth, Texas. Wilborn’s mother, Priscilla Davis, the estranged wife of oil heir T. Cullen Davis, was also shot by the intruder.

T. Cullen Davis was charged with the murders. He hired defense attorney Racehorse Haynes. After one of the most expensive murder investigations and trials in Texas history, Davis was quickly found not guilty.

In 1978, Davis was later charged with hiring a hit man for another attempted killing of Priscilla Davis and the judge overseeing their divorce. Despite a tape-recording of Davis talking to an undercover hitman about the hit, Davis was again acquitted.

Critics claimed Davis was found “not guilty by reason of wealth.”
