A Loudoun County scientist was found dead in his Leesburg farmhouse, killed in a fantasy game orchestrated by his daughter. Robert Schwartz, 57, was repeatedly slashed with a 27-inch sword, by his daughter’s boyfriend, Kyle Hulbert, a mentally disturbed 20-year-old who was obsessed with dragons and vampires. Hulbert killed Schwartz at the behest of Clara Schwartz, who also shared a fascination with witchcraft and the occult. During her trial, Hulbert testified that he and Clara engaged in a fantasy role-playing game called “Underworld,” in which Clara Schwartz’s character, “Lord Chaos,” asked his character, an assassin, to kill her father. Robert Schwartz was alone in his secluded farmhouse when Hulbert confronted him with his sword and slashed and stabbed the scientist more than 40 times. Hulbert, of Millersville, Md., was sentenced to life. Clara Schwartz, a former James Madison University student, received a 48-year prison sentence.
