A man in an alley in Northwest Washington was fatally struck by a garbage truck Monday, and D.C. police are investigating.

It happened around 2 p.m., at 2900 block of Harvard Court NW, near 14th Street and Columbia Street NW, police said.
Commander Steven Sund said it appeared the garbage truck was operating in an alley area when it struck the adult male. The identity of the victim has not been confirmed.
Investigators have not determined what the man was doing in the alley area, Sund said.
