Two people were charged in a shooting at a 16th birthday party in Glen Burnie, according to Anne Arundel County police. Police said Tuesday that Desmond Smith, 23, and a 16-year-old boy were denied entry to a party at the Moose Lodge, located on the 1900 block of Crain Highway, shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday. The lodge had been rented out for a 16th birthday party that night, police said. After the pair wasn’t allowed in to the party, a dispute occurred and a 19-year-old woman was grazed in the leg by a bullet. She received treatment at the scene.
Smith and the 16-year-old boy are facing assault and weapons charges. The Washington Examiner is withholding the boy’s name because he is a minor.
