Trial for man accused of killing Levy pushed back

Federal prosecutors said Monday they expected more charges to be filed against the illegal immigrant accused of murdering Chandra Levy, causing his trial to be pushed back until October 2010.

Ingmar Guandique was scheduled to stand trial in January on first-degree murder and other charges related to the slain intern. New charges against Guandique are expected soon, although prosecutors wouldn’t be more specific.

Guandique, 28, is already serving a 10-year prison sentence for attacking two women in Rock Creek Park around the same time that Levy disappeared in May 2001.
