Five men assault, rob U.Md. students
Three University of Maryland students were assaulted and robbed early Sunday morning at a bus stop, according to police.
A suspect approached the victims around 1:30 a.m. on the 4800 block of Berwyn House Road and asked if they were waiting for a bus, according to Prince George’s County police. When the victims — all males — confirmed that they were, the man left and returned minutes later with four more men.
The men demanded money and began assaulting the victims, two of whom escaped without injury to a nearby fire station. The third victim was punched in the face several times — resulting in minor injuries.
Police have no leads on the culprits, who made off with less than $50 in cash.

Teen gets prison in Pepco shooting
A District teenager was sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting a utility company worker in Northwest D.C.
On Dec. 3, 18-year-old Marlo Johnson was walking near Rhode Island Avenue and First Street NW when he asked a Pepco worker, “What are you looking at?” The two got into a fight, and Johnson left and returned with a .22-caliber pistol, prosecutors said. Johnson fired the gun and the bullet struck another worker in the back of the head. The worker survived the shooting.
