Man sentenced to six months in beating death
A 19-year-old man was sentenced to six months in jail for throwing a punch at a gay man that resulted in his death.
Robert Hannah pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault for punching Tony Hunter in September 2007 outside a gay club in the District. Hannah claimed Hunter had inappropriately touched him. The punch knocked Hunter to the ground and his head slammed into the sidewalk.

Beltway chase ends in arrest
A North Carolina man was taken into custody after he led police on a high-speed chase that started in Maryland and went around the Capital Beltway into Virginia, ending after the man allegedly rammed a Virginia State Police cruiser, authorities said.
The chase started when police tried to pull over 24-year-old Andre Tyrone Washington in Montgomery County in a routine traffic stop early Wednesday morning. Instead, police said, Washington fled into Virginia where he and a Virginia State Police cruiser. The trooper was not injured and Washington was hospitalized for minor injuries.
Evaluation continues for accused Holocaust Museum shooter
The 89-year-old white supremacist accused of killing a security guard at the U.S. Holocaust Museum will remain in a North Carolina prison until at least November as his evaluation continues on whether he’s competent to stand trial. James von Brunn did not appear at a status hearing Wednesday morning in Washington. A judge ordered that another status hearing be held Nov. 30. Authorities say von Brunn opened fire at the museum on June 10, killing guard Stephen T. Johns.
Tax preparer ordered to pay government $238,000
A Silver Spring tax preparer was sentenced to nearly six years in prison and ordered to pay back $238,000 to the Internal Revenue Service for filing false tax returns.
Marcel J. Toto-Ngosso sold names and Social Security numbers of individuals to his clients for $500 to $800 each so his clients could name the individuals as dependents and claim a higher deduction. He then told clients to lie about their tax returns in an attempt to thwart an IRS investigation.
