Car crashes into Dumfries barbershop, killing 3 Three Stafford men were killed early Saturday when a car crashed into a barbershop in Dumfries.

Prince William County police said that a Nissan Altima driven by 20-year-old Edwin A. Membreno-Potillo was traveling south on Main Street at a high speed. Membreno-Potillo missed a curve in the road, hit a median and drove into the barbershop at 17792 Main Street.

One passenger, Jose E. Mejia-Lopez, 42, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, police said. Membreno-Potillo and another passenger, Roger A. Membreno, 22, were wearing seatbelts.

The barbershop’s storefront sustained heavy damage and a family in the apartment above the store had to be evacuated. No one in the building was injured.

1 dead, 1 hurt in stabbing

Prince George’s County police say one woman was found dead and another injured in Hillcrest Heights early Saturday morning.

Police said officers responded to a report of a cutting on othe 4400 block of 23rd Parkway at about 1:30 a.m. One adult woman was found unconscious with trauma wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. Another woman, also an adult, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Detectives are investigating the case as a homicide, police said. No information about suspects or a motive was available.

Fire displaces P.G. family

A morning fire displaced a Prince George’s County family Saturday.

The blaze broke out at a single-family home on the 6600 block of 24th Avenue in Chillum at about 10 a.m., according to Prince George’s County fire and emergency services.

The residence was heavy damaged though losses were still being tabulated.

The family of two adults and two children, ages 6 months and 3 years, escaped from the home without injury.
