D.C. police call for ‘All Hands on Deck’

As part of the latest “All Hands on Deck” initiative, D.C. police on Monday were stopping every other car in the Trinidad neighborhood, checking for identification and passing out fliers seeking help in the fatal shooting of a 13-year-old.

The initiative, which sends nearly every uniformed police offi cer to patrol the streets over two days, coincides with the National Night Out. The event was designed for residents to learn more about the people who live on their own street and visit with law enforcement offi cials.

Police set up the safety compliance checkpoint Saturday on the 600 block of Girard Street NE in the Trinidad neighborhood. On Monday morning, as part of All Hands on Deck, police also passed out fliers offering a $50,000 reward for information on the shooting death of Alonzo Robinson, 13. Fliers for open cases were being passed out all over the city as part of the crime-prevention measure, a spokeswoman said. All Hands on Deck will continue until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
