Detectives said Lululemon suspect treated as victim at first

A Montgomery County judge ruled that statments made to detectives by the woman charged in the slaying of a co-worker can be presented at trial.

Brittany Norwood, 29, is charged with killing Jayna Murray inside the Lululemon Athletica shop in Bethesda in March. Her lawyers were asking a Montgomery County judge to suppress five statements she made to investigators after Murray’s body was found. They said she should have been advised of her rights since Norwood had been identified as a possible suspect.

But two detectives said Friday that that Norwood was initially interviewed strictly as a victim after she was found partly tied up in the back of the store, reports the Associated Press.

The judge sided with the detectives.

Norwood’s trial is scheduled to begin Oct. 24.
