The CBS News reporter arrested and accused of growing marijuana at his Georgetown home has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to probation, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office spokesman William Miller. Howard Arenstein, 60, and his wife, Orly Katz, were arrested in October. D.C. police said they responded to the couple’s home after receiving a complaint of marijuana plants growing in their backyard. Officers said they found several pot plants as high as 8 feet tall. The charges were dismissed last month because an officer didn’t show up to his trial. But prosecutors quickly refiled them.
Arenstein pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana, Miller said, and was sentenced to 90 days of probation and drug testing and treatment, if necessary.
Miller said Katz has not pleaded guilty in the case.
