Serial arsonist gets 20 years

A Laurel business owner was sentenced to 20 years in prison for intentionally burning down his home over an estate battle with his deceased wife’s family.

Prosecutors said Scott Wilson, 57, set fire to his home and electronics recycling company on Halloween 2008, poured screws and glass on the driveway of a witness on New Year’s Eve that same year, and later lit a neighbor’s pickup on fire, destroying it.

2 arrested in museum break-in

Two Alexandria men were arrested for breaking into a Maryland museum.

Police responded to a burglary alarm at the St. Clement’s Island Museum in Leonardtown and found broken windows and Didier Fuentes, 28, and Mario Fuentez, 25, hiding at a nearby fishing pier.

The museum focuses on religious and political issues of 16th- and 17th-century England.

FBI uses new technology

to search for old bank robber

The FBI is starting a 40-state billboard campaign to catch the a bank robber known as the “Granddad Bandit.”

The agency believes the robberies began in December 2008 in Richmond and spread to 24 other banks in 12 other states. The reward for his capture is $25,000.

The billboards will feature his photo and tip line information.

P.G. police probe triple shooting

Prince George’s County police are investigating a weekend shooting that left one person dead and two injured.

Police identified Bryant West, 30, of Suitland, as the deceased on Monday. A 22-year-old man and 26-year-old woman were also injured in the shooting, which took place around 4:20 a.m. Saturday.

Police are still identifying suspects and determining a motive for the incident.
