Former U.S. Army major gets 27 years for child porn
A former U.S. Army major was sentenced to 27 years in prison for having 30,000 images of child pornography on computers in his Arlington home.
Daniel A. Woolverton faces a second set of rape charges in Arlington after authorities found videos allegedly depicting him raping an infant, court records said.
Woolverton was discharged from the Army after he was accused of having the child porn late last year. He is a West Point graduate and Army lawyer who served tours in Kuwait and Iraq.
ATM robbery suspect arrested
United States Secret Service officers arrested a man they say they witnessed committing armed robbery at an ATM on the 800 block 17th Street, NW.
District police subsequently identified the man as John Fenley Woodland, 44, who was wanted for an armed robbery that occurred earlier this month.
Police are investigating whether Woodland was involved in a series of armed robberies that occurred recently in the District.
Woodland was charged with two counts of armed robbery and an outstanding bench warrant.
Body found in recycling container ID’d
Authorities identified the body found in a recycling container in Manassas as that of a 60-year-old homeless man.
James Sessoms was found dead Wednesday at the Canusa Hersman Recycling Center. The cause of his death is under investigation.
