About 32 pounds of marijuana were seized from Berwyn Heights Mayor Cheye Calvo’s house by Prince George’s County police and sheriff’s deputies Tuesday, county police spokesman Cpl. Clinton Copeland said.
No charges have been filed against Calvo or anyone else who lives in the house in the 8500 block of Edmonston Road, Copeland said. Calvo could not be reached for comment.
In the course of the 7 p.m. raid, deputies, who had a search warrant, also shot and killed Calvo’s two black Labradors, which Copeland described as aggressive. Investigation into how the drugs were in the mayor’s home continues, and everyone in the house remains a person of interest, Copeland said.
Calvo is known for his opposition to the driver’s license provisions of the REAL ID Act and his extensive writings on genetics policy and privacy.
