Dapper bandit knocks off BB&T branch

He walked in wearing a dark suit with a white shirt and tie, complete with a matching white fedora. Although the outfit appeared more suited for a jazz club, the man dressed his best to impress — and rob a bank.

Prince George’s County police are still looking for the robber, described as a middle-aged black man, who walked into the BB&T Bank at 6410 Allentown Road in Camp Springs, at 9:22 a.m. Thursday. Wearing sunglasses to complete his ensemble, the man is shown on surveillance footage approaching the teller and handing over a note.

Police said the man implied in the note that he was armed, and the teller handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Allentown Road branch has not had a reported bank robbery before, but BB&T has had branches in Prince George’s County robbed on four occasions in the past six months.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is still asking for anyone with information on the robber to call the department’s Robbery Unit at 301-772-4905. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous can call the P.G. Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477), text “PGPD” plus your information to CRIMES (274637), or got to pgpolice.org and submit the tip online.

A cash reward of up to $1,000 is offered for the tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the well-dressed robber.
