Times Square bomb suspect attended D.C. school

The man accused of parking a bomb-laden sport utility vehicle in Times Square briefly attended college in Washington, the Associated Press reported.

Authorities say Faisal Shahzad parked the SUV in New York City’s Times Square on Saturday night. The vehicle was smoldering when a street food vendor alerted police and the disaster of a bomb going off in the tourist-packed area was averted.

According to the AP, Shahzad attended Southeastern University in D.C. before transferring to the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and getting his bachelor’s degree in computer applications and information systems in 2000. Southeastern University lost its accreditation last year.
