Alexandria police are looking for the person who wounded a man at a makeshift gathering place for the homeless.
A 40-year-old man was sleeping in a wooded area near Duke and South Van Dorn streets that had been set up as a homeless camp, when a female friend and a man he knew as Marcos approached him on Aug. 15.
The woman said Marcos was bothering her. When the man asked Marcos to leave her alone, Marcos assaulted him and caused severe facial injuries, police said.
Police said Wednesday that the suspect had been identified as Marcos Campos, 30, of Alexandria. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. He is known to visit homeless camps on the west side of the city.
