Va. internet task force teams up with INTERPOL

BEDFORD, Va. (AP) — Officers with Bedford County’s Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force have joined with the International Criminal Police Organization’s Human Trafficking and Child Protection Division.

Sheriff Mike Brown says that investigators with the task force, also known as Operation Blue Ridge Thunder, will rotate through INTERPOL’s Washington, D.C., office.

INTERPOL is a collaboration of law enforcement professionals from 190 countries and is the world’s largest police organization.

The News & Advance (http://bit.ly/MCIj5S ) reports that Bedford will be the fourth local agency to permanently pair with INTERPOL’s Washington office. The New York Police Department, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Pinellas County, Fla., Sheriff’s office also participate.
