Roommate kept body in closet for four days

A Hagerstown man kept his roommate’s body in a bedroom closet for four days after killing him, police said.

Darrell Hicks, 53, was charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of 45-year-old Darrin Pressman in their apartment.

Hicks allegedly told police that Pressman came out of a bedroom with a large kitchen knife on May 30, and Hicks’ instincts took over. Hicks said he grabbed the knife and stabbed Pressman several times, according to police.

Pressman’s girlfriend found the body Friday after she pushed her way past Hicks to check on an odor coming from Pressman’s room, police said.

Fairfax County Police were called to the apartment at about 5:30 a.m. Monday and found three people suffering from apparent stab wounds.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Park and another woman were transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said the three all knew each other and the incident was contained within the apartment. This is the fifth homicide in Fairfax County in 2011.

Metrobuses crash into each other

Two Metrobuses collided Monday afternoon in Southeast D.C., prompting the city’s mass casualty response to kick into action.

No one had life-threatening injuries, according to Metro, but the size of the accident prompted D.C. Fire & EMS officials to call for their mass casualty units.

The initial reports to Metro listed nine riders with injuries, spokeswoman Cathy Asato said.

A U2 bus rear-ended a Route 90 bus on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue and W Street Southeast around 2:45 p.m., according to Metro.

Both bus operators have been taken out of service to be tested for drugs and alcohol, she said, which is standard after any accident.
