Local juvenile offenders with outstanding custody orders — the juvenile-court equivalent of an outstanding warrant — can turn themselves in Friday or Saturday in a program sponsored by D.C. Superior Court, the Court Social Services Division and the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, Superior Court officials said Tuesday.
The program, called “Operation Safe Return,” is designed to encourage juvenile offenders to comply with the terms of their probation or release and re-connect with case managers in Youth Rehabilitation.
Kids who surrender to officials in the program can return to their original status within juvenile court as long as they haven’t committed any other offenses in the meantime. They can report to the Balanced and Restorative Justice (BARJ) Drop-In Center at 2575 Reed Street NE Friday between noon and 8 p.m. and Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
