A D.C. man was sentenced to nearly two years in prison for assaulting a U.S. Park Police officer and possessing crack cocaine. Derrick Tarzan Young, 25, was arrested in June after the police officer tried to pull him over for driving with a broken taillight, federal prosecutors in Greenbelt said. U.S. District Judge Roger W. Titus sentenced Young to 21 months. After the traffic stop, the officer and Young got into a struggle in which Young wrapped his arms around the officer’s waist near the officer’s gun. Another officer showed up and placed handcuffs on Young. Police found a package of cocaine and seized $280 in cash.
