A 24-year-old man is accused of fatally stabbing another man outside a Fairfax County psychiatric facility.
Fairfax police said a stabbing was reported outside Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, which provides support for adults with mental illnesses, at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
Police allege that Mark Shelor stabbed 57-year-old Grady Vickers in the upper body outside of the facility. Both men are PRS clients.
The two men encountered each other outside, authorities said, but investigators are still trying to determine what sparked the stabbing.
Vickers was taken to a hospital, where he died.
On its website, PRS says it “exists so that individuals with mental illness, emotional and/or behavioral disorders achieve personal wellness, recovery and community integration.” The facility is located at 1761 Old Meadow Road in McLean.
