  • A man accused of killing his estranged wife and suspected in the slaying of his 11-year-old stepson was returned from North Carolina to Montgomery County on Wednesday. Montgomery County police said 45-year-old Curtis Lopez arrived at their headquarters at about 2 p.m.

Lopez was arrested in Charlotte last month and is being charged with first-degree murder in the killing of 51-year-old Jane McQuain. The Germantown woman was found dead in her apartment. The remains of her son, William McQuain, were found in a wooded area near Interstate 270 in Clarksburg. Police said they expected to charge Lopez in William’s homicide.

A medical examiner ruled that William was killed by a blunt force trauma to the head.
