Four suspects have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of burglaries in Germantown, police said.
The suspects are 20-year-old Marcus Antonio Lee, 20-year-old Demarco James Burke, 18-year-old Travis Devon Forbes and a 17-year-old boy, Montgomery County police said.
From April 6 through the beginning of this week, there had been 23 occupied home burglaries in several Germantown neighborhoods, police said. There have also been several thefts of vehicles and thefts from vehicles in the neighborhoods.
On June 15, Burke was arrested in the District as a passenger in a vehicle that had been stolen during one of the burglaries. Lee was the driver and fled, but an arrest warrant was obtained for him, police said.
Early Wednesday morning, Gaithersburg city police officers responded to an incident on Hidden Field Drive in which a residence was burglarized and the resident’s vehicle was stolen. Montgomery County officers found the vehicle at a 7-Eleven about an hour later, and Forbes and the 17-year-old were arrested inside the vehicle, police said.
Lee had been with Forbes and the 17-year-old but had fled. Police said they arrested Lee Wednesday afternoon after executing a search warrant at a residence in Germantown.
Lee and Forbes are charged with burglary and theft-related charges and are being held on $25,000 bond. Burke is being held in the District, and a detainer was filed for pending charges he faces in Montgomery County. The 17-year-old is charged in one of the burglaries and is detained at Alfred D. Noyes Children’s Center.
Police are continuing to investigate the incidents. Anyone with information can call police at 240-773-6237.
