Two firefighters were injured while battling a three-alarm blaze at a Silver Spring apartment complex.
The fire broke out at the two-story building on the 2800 block of Terrace Drive at about 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.
A heavy fire was spreading through the attic area when emergency crews arrived, authorities said. One firefighter suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries that officials said were possibly heat-related. Another firefighter suffered a minor orthopedic injury.
About 20 units were damaged but no residents were injured in the blaze, officials said. Eighty to 100 people were displaced.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
