A 22-year-old Fredericksburg man pleaded guilty Monday to second-degree murder for a 2009 shooting outside a Manassas restaurant.
Prosecutors said Ricky Lee Kerns admitted to the shooting death of Curtiss Kamau Brown in the parking lot of KC’s Restaurant.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dismissed a weapons charge and agreed to recommend a 10-year sentence.
The slaying happened Oct. 11, 2009, after fight broke out during the end of a concert at the restaurant.
Brown, 25, of Dumfries was shot and killed.
Kerns’ trial last year ended in a mistrial.
