A Georgia woman visiting relatives in Maryland disappeared in July 1981 and has never been seen again. Kathryn Mae Quackenbush was 17 years old when she and her brother went to the Delmar area in Wicomico County to see their father.
On July 14, 1981, she planned to go to a bowling alley in Salisbury with her boyfriend, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. When her boyfriend was a few minutes late picking her up, she apparently started walking south along Route 13.
The boyfriend arrived about five minutes after she left, according to NamUs.
But Quackenbush could not be located and was reported missing.
Authorities have said foul play is suspected in her disappearance, but no suspects have ever been publicly named.
Quackenbush would be 47 years old now.
At the time she went missing, Quackenbush was described as white, about 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 105 pounds, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She had blond hair and blue eyes.
She did not have any distinctive tattoos or piercings and it’s not known what clothing she was last wearing.
Anyone with information about her disappearance is asked to call the Maryland Center for Missing Children at 800-MDS-KIDS (637-5437).
