Maryland man charged for large marijuana growing operation

A Laurel man was arrested in connection with a substantial marijuana growing operation, police officials said.

Manoj Unni, 30, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, possession of equipment to produce marijuana and drug manufacturing, according to the Howard County Police Department.

When Howard County police executed a search warrant at Unni’s residence Wednesday, they found 341 plants that will yield at maturity about 170 pounds worth $510,000. Detectives also found high-intensity lights, a dehumidifier, air filters, water pumping systems, lighting timers, a CO2 system and a ventilation system. 

Unni has been released on $25,000 bond.
