Police investigate three shootings, one stabbing
D.C. police are investigating three shootings and a stabbing in the District that killed three people and injured four others on Saturday night.
The four separate violent incidents took place over the course of three hours.
The stabbing occurred about 9:45 p.m. on the 5300 block of Ames Street NE. Two men were injured and taken to the hospital, where one of them later died.
An hour later, police were called to the 1700 block of Seventh Street NW, where two men had been shot; only one survived.
Two more shootings took place about midnight in Southeast, injuring two people and killing another. Authorities have not released the names of any victims or perpetrators. One shooting took place just before midnight on the 1200 block of Trenton Street SW, where a man was shot in the leg. The third shooting happened shortly after midnight at 2312 Green St. SE, killing one person and injuring another.
Grill blamed for apartment blaze
Prince William County authorities say a propane grill is to blame for an apartment fire that destroyed more than two dozen residential units last week.
The grill, located in a third-floor apartment, ignited the blaze Thursday evening at the Woodbridge Station Apartments on Eisenhower Circle, fire department officials said. No residents were seriously injured in the fire, which has displaced more than 100 people.
Party ends in slaying
An 18-year-old man was killed during a fight at a party in Indian Head, Md., according to police. Jerry Adam Gilchrist died after suffering blunt-force trauma during an altercation at a party on the 4800 block of Mason Springs Road, police said. Authorities had been called to the house shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday morning for a report of shots fired, but found no shooting victims.
