Suspect sought in southeast D.C. stabbing

The U.S. Marshals Service is seeking the man wanted for a near-fatal November attack in Southeast Washington. Authorities say 53-year-old Lucious E. McLeod stabbed a man twice in the chest and four times in the back with a knife on a D.C. street on Nov. 1.

McLeod and his victim knew each other, said Eric Mellette of the Marshals Service’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. A warrant was issued for McLeod’s arrest that day. He has been charged with assault with intent to kill while armed.

The victim survived, but was taken to a Prince George’s County hospital in critical condition.

Officers responded to a report of an assault on the 4500 block of Benning Road SE, but found the victim a few blocks away, on the 4800 block of Texas Avenue SE.

McLeod’s criminal past includes burglary, armed robbery, assault, marijuana and forgery charges over the past 30 years.

“After his latest display of violence and utter disregard for the lives of others, we need to get McLeod off the streets and back behind bars as soon as possible,” Marshals Service task force officer Chris Coles said. “We need the community’s assistance in locating McLeod before he has the opportunity to harm others.”

McLeod is known to frequent the 4500 block of B Street SE and Bass Circle. He has family in those areas, Mellette said. McLeod’s last known address was the 4700 block of Benning Road SE.

Marshals believe he is still in the D.C. area.

McLeod is described as a black man who is about 6 feet 1 and 240 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Marshals Service at 301-489-1717 or 800-336-0102.
