A former Marine has been convicted and sentenced to five life terms for abducting and raping one woman and robbing another.
An Arlington County Circuit Court jury found Jorge “George” Torrez, 22, guilty of 14 of 17 charges, including abduction, rape, sodomy and robbery. The jury recommended a total of 168 years in prison, in addition to the life terms.
Torrez was convicted of raping and abducting one woman, after restraining the woman and her friend in a house, on Feb. 27. He was also convicted of trying to lead a woman into his car and robbing her of her purse on Feb. 10.
Torrez has been linked through DNA to the 2005 killings of two girls near Chicago, but has not been charged there.
