One person is dead after gunshots were heard in Charles County on Wednesday night, authorities said.
About 8:45 p.m, officers patrolling in the area of Charles Street in La Plata heard the sound of multiple gunshots. Officers found a victim lying in the roadway near the 200 block of Kent Avenue, and the victim was pronounced dead, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim has not been identified, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.
