Trial date set in Wone civil case
D.C. Superior Court Judge Brook Hedge has set a trial date of June 13, 2011, for the wrongful-death suit filed by Robert Wone’s widow, Katherine, against Joseph Price, Dylan Ward and Victor Zaborsky.
Wone was found stabbed to death in the three men’s Dupont Circle town house. They were acquitted of covering up his killing in June after a criminal trial that lasted five weeks.
Hedge sided with Katherine Wone’s proposed schedule with her trial date. Hedge also set March 15 as the deadline for discovery — the pretrial fact-finding process — a slower timeline than the defendants had wanted.
A status hearing in the civil case is scheduled for next month.
Police investigating crash that killed 2 teens
Prince William County police are investigating a crash that killed two teenagers in Haymarket over the weekend.
Police said Stephen Dixon, 18, was driving a 2004 Mazda RX-8 eastbound on Logmill Road when he lost control on a hill crest. He collided with a vehicle that was driving westbound on the road, causing the Mazda to flip over and land upside down.
Dixon and a passenger, Derek Meffert, 15, both of Haymarket, were killed in the crash.
Another passenger and the driver of the other vehicle, a 1994 Acura Integra, were flown to a hospital with injuries that police said were not life-threatening.
Police said speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
